LSRC and LRA Qacha's Neck tax rebate workshop

Lesotho Sport and Recreation Commission (LSRC) partnering with Lesotho Revenue Authority (LRA) held a one day Tax Rebate workshop at Qacha's Neck




The workshop was on Wednesday August 23,2017, it was about creating awareness to  Qacha's Neck business men and women about the benefits of sponsoring the Lesotho sports. LRA Ms Lenyora informed the people that sponsoring Lesotho sports in a form of either cash, goods or services that amount to M1000 or more qualifies one for the Tax Rebate.She mentioned that the sponsorship should be channeled through LSRC as to confirm the there has been such sponsorship.

Mr Malataliana of LSRC added that for the mechanism to be approved the sponsorship should be intended for an athlete,club or an association that is recognized by LSRC and should be based upon the events that appear in the federation/club fixture for the year.

Basketball games at Lehakoe August 26,2017



Lesotho Basketball Association will be hosting the All Star Weekend Green vs Blue and the HBSL Top 4 games on Saturday at Lehakoe. The Green vs Blue teams is of group of best players and coaches voted for by the fans.The colors Blue and Green were chosen just to separate the teams with also the aim of not going far from the Lesotho Basketball Association logo and the national flag.

The Green vs Blue games will be playing after the High School Basketball League Top 4 games, at 6 p.m at Lehakoe while the Top 4 will start at 9 a.m

The Chess Federation of Lesotho getting ready for Batumi Olympiad

In preparation for the 43rd Chess Olympiad, Chess Federation of Lesotho(CFL) together with Ty Chess Club in partnership with Blue Mountain Inn hosted a 6 rounds open rated tournament on Saturday and Sunday August 19-20,2017. The tournament was held to select a national team that will represent Lesotho in Batumi Chess Olympiad that will be held in Batumi Georgia September 23, to October 7, 2018.

The Chess Olympiad is a biennial chess tournament held every two years in which the chess teams from all over the world that are registered with (World Chess Federation) FIDE compete,every member, rated and unrated.There will also be the comprising open and women's tournament that are designed to promote the game of chess Lesotho has been part of FIDE since 2012 had a chanced to compete in the Olympiads in 2014 and 2016.
 CFL has also taken its acting Secretary General Mahlauli Manyeli to Harare Zimbabwe for the arbiter seminar which in success she will be a FIDE arbiter and will be able to run the rated tournaments.

Lesotho's athletes settled in Taiwan for FISU

Lesotho's representatives Ts'epang sello and Khereng Khereng are now settled in Taipei Taiwan for the FISU after the opening ceremony that took place on Sunday.



The FISU (International University Sports Federation) is responsible for the organization and governance of the worldwide competitions for students-athletes between the ages 17-28. It was formed within the university institutions in order to promote the sports values and encourage sports practice in harmony with the university spirit. The FISU stages its events every two years.

Lesotho took part in FISU for the first time in 2011 at Shenzen China in September sending two athletes, Nthabiseng Nqosa of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology playing tennis, who was knocked out in the second round by a Malawian after knocking out a Russian in the first round; and Pule Rants'eli who was the a student at the University of Free State and also the first inductee to Universiade (World University Games) competing in 400m marathon and long jump, Rants'eli was knocked out in the second of the the 400m marathon and knocked out in the first round of long jump competition. In 2013 Lesotho missed the Universiade games in Gwangju due to financial problems,
and in 2015 Lesotho had a delegate to Kazan in Russia, was represented by a runner Moleboheng Mafata and a boxer Thabiso Molibeli in Agric College who also were knocked out in the first rounds

The Top 8 High School Basketball League at Lehakoe


                                              
Lesotho Basketball Association held the Top 8 High School Basketball League at Lehakoe club on Saturday August 19,2017. There was 9 High School teams that were expected to participate at the tournament but due to weather conditions Thaba-Tseka High School was not able to show up.

The top 4 finalists are:

Rebel Army Table Tennis Tournamet

The Rebel Army Table Tennis Club will be hosting the Rebel Army Open 2017 on September 2,2017 at the Memorial Hall Maseru. The categories that are expected to participate will be the Junior category, senior category, veteran category and high schools.

Lesotho's flag is raised high once again on the international games. The Lesotho Universities and Colleges Association sent-off our own two athletes (runners) Ts'epang Sello 800m and Khereng Khereng 100m and 200m to compete in the World University Games that will be held at Taipei in Taiwan on August 19, to August 30, 2017.

The 100m and 200m runner Ketheng said on the Press Conference that was held at Lesotho Sport and Recreation Commission that they are going to do all there is in their power, despite the challenges they may meet there to bring the medals home. The two runners left the country today and they are to come back on September 2, 2017. 

LISA Ball Games at Lesotho High School













In preparation for the COSSASA ball games to be hosted on August 31 to September 2, Lisa held the National ball games at Lesotho High School from Friday August 11 to Sunday August 13, where the 10 districts competed in the 5 sporting codes, Basketball, Volleyball, Handball, Netball and Soccer in male and female categories.


The games were fair and exciting even though the St Patrick's High School from Mohale's Hoek was more powerful against other schools. The St. Patrick's High School took the championship in Basketball in both females and males category, they won the Volleyball championship in females category and Soccer championship in females category too.

The other Schools that took the Championships were Morapeli High School in Handball both females and males category, Life high School in Soccer males category, Lithabaneng High School in Volleyball males category, Thaba-Tseka High School in Netball males category and Leqele High School in Netball females category.
From the commencement and the closing of the games we acknowledged the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Monyane Moleleki, Minister of Sports, Gender, Youth and Recreation Mr Kabelo Mafura.

Lesotho hosts COSSASA ball games

Invitation by the Lesotho Institution Sports Association and Lesotho Primary Schools Sport Association

On the August 31 to September 2, 2017 Lesotho will be hosting the Confederation of School Sport Associations of Southern African(COSSASA) ball games in Maseru
There will be seven countries participating in this games; Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Swaziland, Malawi, South Africa, Lesotho

We have six sport codes included in the Tournament 

Soccer
Netball
Volleyball
Basketball
Rugby
Tennis

Federation of Lesotho Rugby




The Federation of Lesotho Rugby (FLR) held a press conference on August 31, 2017 the conference was to launch the new jersey for our rugby National Team Likatola sponsored by Econet Telecom Lesotho.

The FLR presented also at the conference that there’s going to be tournaments in September and October, also launched a slogan “Re mmoho” for those tournaments. The first tournament will be Maseru International Rugby Sevens on the 23-24 September 2017 at Setsoto Stadium and the Africa Cup One D Tournament will be on the 15-21 October 2017 at Leshoboro Stadium Mafeteng. On the 12 August, the FLR will be hosting the Gala Dinner at the Avani Lesotho in preparation of the tournaments, the aim of the event will be to raising funds
