2017 National Chess Championship Finals;Tokelo Klass wins the Championship once again

On the 16^th and 17^th Deember 2017 the Chess Federation of Lesotho hosted the National Chess Championship finals at the BMI. The National Chess Championship is an annual event, even though due to lack of funds the tournament did not go on in 2016, therefore in accordance to this the defending champion was from 2015,Mr Kananelo Latela who was battling with the 2015 tournament qualifiers, from three regions; South: Mohale’s Hoek, North: Leribe and Butha-Buthe , and Central: Maseru. About 40 players were expected from all regions, Mphetola Mona, Malehloa Likhomo, Malillo Phera, Tokelo Klass, Sechaba Khalema, Bakoena Seboka, Teboho Makhele, and Lieketseng Ngatane are just a few from the 2015 qualifiers that played at this tournament.

The 2017 Top 3 winners of the National Chess Championship finals; Tokelo Klass maintained his champion position, his rival is Honourable Joang Molapo on the second position, and Ramokotjo Lekau on the third position. Reitumetse Taioe came out as a Best Lady and Moorosi Makhele as the Best Under 12

Bring Back Softball and Baseball Funwalk

The Lesotho Baseball and Softball Association (LBSA) will host the “BRING BACK” Softball & Baseball Fun walk on Saturday December 16, 2017.LBSA has seen a need to attract and invite more youth to the field in an interest to rejuvenate the long-time softball and baseball players, and to also educate the players about anti-doping while at the event. This fun walk is also arranged with an aim of preparing for the Softball National Team games against Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa that will be hosted by Softball South Africa in Tshwane Pretoria on the 12^th-14^th of January 2018. The Lesotho Softball National team will play in an International tournament since 2006 after a prolonged break brought about by lack of equipment and funds.                                                                                                                       

The fun walk will start at Setsotso Stadium to Mabote from 6:30am to 5:00pm where a braai and an orientation and education of and anti-doping will be facilitated. Softball/baseball shirts will be provided upon entry payment.

The Protocol agreement signing at Bambatha

These happened as the Ministry of Gender, Youth, Sport and Recreation through the Hon. Minister Kabelo Mafura and the AUSC Region 5 chairperson signed the protocol agreement for Lesotho to host the Ausc Region 5 games in 2020. The event took place at the Bambatha Tsita Sport Arena Maseru on the 14th December 2017 in the presence of the Ministry of Local Government, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign affairs.
