LESOTHO ANNUAL SPORT AWARDS-LASA 2ND EDITION

FINALISTS ANNOUNCEMENT INFORMATION PACK
In April 2017, the Lesotho Sport and Recreation Commission (LSRC) embarked on the celebration of the Lesotho Annual Sports Awards (LASA) in a bid to recognise, embrace and reward all Basotho who are excelling in their respective sport disciplines. This followed the 2016 Inaugural Sport Legacy Awards which were tailored to honour those legends who had continuously contributed to the development of sports in the country since Lesotho began participating in sports. This year’s performance for the period of January to December 2017 shall be celebrated in the LASA 2nd Edition which will be held on the 17th March 2018 at the Lesotho National Convention Centre.

We would like to thank the media, sporting fraternity, Evaluation Panel, the Basotho nation and the sponsors (Lesotho Times, Lesotho Flour Mills, All4One Sports and Brand It) for all their support. We are still awaiting feedback from other potential Sponsors and it shall be shared once available.

The following are the finalists for the LASA categories and they are in no particular order:

DISQULIFIED CATEGORIES
1.      Disability-
Sportsman of the year with a Disability
Sportswoman of the year with a Disability
Reason: There was no convincing performance to be awarded in the big event like LASA 2nd Edition
2.      Sports School of the year
Competition was not fair for the Primary Schools, Secondary Schools and Tertiary Institutions to compete in one category since their financial muscles are extremely different. The Evaluation panel advised that this category be broken into 3 to allo LePSSA, LISA and LUCSA members to compete as per their National Federation.
